UK Consumers Warier of Credit Card Fraud than Ever Before

A new poll revealed this week that consumers across the UK are more concerned than they have ever been about the dangers of credit and debit card fraud.

A study by communications company Connected World showed that 62 per cent of British consumers were worried that their online security was not up to scratch, when purchasing items by credit or debit card. Some 42 per cent of them even said that concerns about fraud – and bad credit ratings they may get as a result – had put them off buying items online altogether.

A further 71 per cent of respondents admitted that they felt uncomfortable when asked to hand over credit or debit card details to call centre workers, with 27 per cent revealing that their misgivings were down to personal experience of identity fraud or other crimes related to the giving out of personal details. Some 88 per cent of respondents said that they would prefer to use payment systems over the phone which kept their financial details secret from the staff member dealing with the call.

Identity theft and credit card fraud victims often find themselves with bad credit, and unable to secure personal loans or other forms of credit. Fortunately bad credit loans exist to help people in this situation, and a bad credit rating can be massaged back to health.

Other ways of dealing with bad credit include taking out and paying off a number of smaller personal loans, such as payday loans – or by using a debt consolidation loan to pay off smaller debts and reduce the rest.
